Description

Craving a sandwich that doesn’t crumble? These Gluten Free Hoagie Rolls deliver softness and structure in every bite! Perfect for stuffing with your favorite fillings without gluten worries. Finally, a roll that holds juicy burgers and messy meatball subs without turning to mush!

Ingredients

Scale

3 cups gluten free flour (e.g., gfJules)

1 Tablespoon gluten free yeast

1 Tablespoon sugar

1 teaspoon salt

⅓ cup instant powdered milk (omit if dairy-free)

¼ cup oil (e.g., avocado oil)

1 egg (room temp)

1 ¼ cups water (about 110°F)

Instructions

1. Measure gluten free flour by stirring, scooping into measuring cup, and leveling off.

2. Combine all ingredients in stand mixer bowl.

3. Mix with paddle attachment on low until combined, then medium-low for 1 full minute.

4. Lightly oil work surface and turn dough out.

5. Roll dough to coat with oil, then divide into 6 equal pieces.

6. Shape each piece into a hoagie or hot dog bun shape.

7. Place shaped dough in a specialty bun pan or 2″ apart on a parchment-lined baking sheet.

8. Cover loosely with plastic wrap and let rise in a warm place for 20-30 minutes until doubled.

9. Optional: Brush with melted butter for browning.

10. Bake at 350°F for 20-25 minutes until cooked through.

11. Cool completely before serving for best texture.

Notes

Pro-Tips:

• For extra-soft rolls, place cooled buns in a plastic bag with a slice of apple overnight; the natural moisture softens them.

• Storage: Keep leftovers in a sealed plastic bag on the counter for 2 days. Freeze for longer storage. Microwave frozen buns 15-20 seconds to refresh.

• Dairy-free: Omit powdered milk and use your favorite non-dairy milk alternative if needed.

Variations:

• Shape into longer 6″ rolls for authentic hoagies or smaller bun shapes for hot dogs.
